The contrasting programme: wild coasters, forest and vineyards
Germany's largest amusement park with 13 high-speed roller coasters and a tranquil spa town in the Black Forest. How does that go together? We think: pretty well, especially for families. The park in Rust is unique in the world and guarantees a great day out, but the surrounding area? It used to be desolate marshland, the village of Rust itself is boring, but at least it's a quick drive to the motorway.
Badenweiler in the Markgräflerland region between Freiburg and Basel is completely different. Instead of wild coasters and crowds of people, you will see forests and vineyards, an old castle, beautiful inns, a great outdoor pool and the local Hochblauen mountain. 1,165 metres high, great views as far as the Alps
.And then there's the Fini-Resort, the No. 1 adventure hotel in the southern Black Forest, four-star superior, comfortable rooms and a super friendly team. The 11,000 square metre hotel park with its 170-year-old sequoia tree is beautiful. You can sit outside and eat ice cream on the sun terrace by the goldfish pond or on the hotel roof. The indoor pool is large, and in summer the door to the sunbathing lawn is open. Seven saunas, massages and beauty treatments await you in the wellness world.
The regional and seasonal fresh cuisine offers delicious themed buffets in the evening, a carving festival on Saturdays and an outdoor barbecue on Wednesdays. The location in the border triangle is perfect for excursions. A few highlights: the world's largest vintage car museum in Mulhouse, Little Venice in Colmar, the romantic Titisee, a boat trip on the Rhine in Breisach and a trip on the Belchen mountain railway. Freiburg and Basel are great city destinations for strolling and shopping.
